Tasman Ecovillage is a partnership between the developer (Parsons Bay Lodge Pty Ltd), and the Tasman Ecovillage Association and is based on permaculture and co-housing principles. The Ecovillage came into existence when the Community Development Scheme (strata title) was registered in 2013.
The ecovillage founders purchased some of the motel units to live in and to invest in. The initial land release of the 10 residential home sites in the "Pod A" cluster accommodated the second wave of settlers. Purchase of a strata title home site includes a share in community facilities such as the community kitchen and dining area, common rooms, laundry, sauna, tennis courts and 19 acres (7.8ha) of common ground including the dams, the creek and some established gardens. Underground services (power, water and sewerage) are provided to all home sites and fixed wireless connections to the National Broadband Network (NBN) are available.
